Countdown to Vienna Review - CYPRUS!!

We welcome Cyprus back to the Eurovision as they took a wee break last year, and they have returned with a gentle ballad.  The singer is John Karayiannis, who has previously tried to represent the country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest but he is all grown up now!

The song is "One Thing I Should Have Done" and Cyprus is hoping it gets them to the final for the first time since 2012.  It was among the first songs to be selected for ESC this year, and kind of stood out as a gentle classy ballad.  Then a whole raft of other countries chose gentle classy ballads too... Anyways, have a listen, here it is!:

Here's the verdict of the Euro Bureau panel!:

Asta Bjornsdottir:  "You‘ve heard million songs like that but it‘s still nice. Everything on the low keys, nice and quiet. Like it !!"

Hasse Skoldebjer: "A nice and pleasant song, I like it in all its simplicity. 6/10."

Annemieke Kelleter: "Sounds like a lot of well known songs mashed up together with a bit of "all I have to give" by BSB in the chorus. I don't particularly like or hate it and because of that the song sounds familiar right away. Could do well."

Adam and Charlotte Lane: "Simple, effective, could do well. Main hook stolen from “I Swear” by Boyz II Men, but not sure that matters. Bit disappointed by the bridge, and instrumentally it could have grown a little more; it was clear that vocally he could have coped with a second ‘belter’ of a chorus but it never appeared. 7/10."

Quite a positive review then - despite (or because of?) the fact that it reminds us all of different songs! But what do you think? Leave us a comment below! :D
